About Us

Messingham Sunbeams is a well-established pre-school run by a dedicated team of teaching staff and a parent-based committee. It is a charity-based pre-school and not run for profit, just for the children that count.

Based in the heart of the village of Messingham, yet also serving the Scotter, Bottesford, West Butterwick and Scunthorpe areas, this traditional pre-school makes every child feel important. Run from the Methodist Church Hall, we feel our setting is spacious which allows us to offer an extremely wide variety of activities so that each child can play and learn according to their strength and preferences. We also encourage outdoor play and offer a secure gated play area with a large number of outdoor toys.

Staff support childrens' learning and development through continuous assessment, recognising and building on their strengths. This is then helping them towards becoming confident independent learners. We work closely with local schools to ensure the transition from pre-school to Foundation Stage 2 or Reception (as it is more commonly known) is as smooth and carefree as possible for the children.

We pride ourselves on being friendly, welcoming and family-orientated. With a daily limit of just 16 children, you can see why each child gets our full attention at all times.

Finally, we feel our mixed age, small group sessions with high staff ratios, ensure that children learn to share, fulfil their potential and show respect for their peers and adults.
